GREENLIT: THE GATHERING

A Plant-Based Celebration

A VIRTUAL CANNABIS EVENT
Live-Streamed November 28, 2020

In support of the Last Prisoner Project and FairFight.com

Remember when you thought wearing a mask was just for Halloween? Thanks, Covid. Well, even though the situation remains complicated, the GreenLit crew decided that now more than ever we need spaces to be entertained, uplifted and connected—even if that means doing it virtually, so we’re bringing it… We’re kicking things off with our inaugural event, GreenLit: The Gathering, for what promises to be a memorable mash-up of grooves, laughs and the straight dope on cannabis-related issues thanks to a lineup that includes a celestial DJ; a solo artist making waves on top platforms like LA’s KCRW; divas from a beloved drag troupe and some very smart canna-experts. Add trivia contests and the chance to win some sweet swag and you get the makings of a truly lifted Saturday (and safe way to celebrate!) over the long Thanksgiving Day weekend!

And guess what—it’s all FREE! For all this at-home goodness, we only ask that you consider making a donation to one (or both!) of two very worthy organizations: the social justice warriors at Last Prisoner Project and FairFight.com an organization working to turn the tide in the Georgia Senate races which have major national implications for Federal cannabis laws and other issues. Any amount helps. Blessings to y’all from the GreenLit Crew!

RSVP!

Sign-up to get the full line-up, updates, a first peek at swag you can win during our Trivia breaks and the link to watch our live-stream on November 28, 2020, 4:20 pm to 7 pm PST. Everyone is welcome and the event is free! Just RSVP to be eligible for give-aways.

Last Prisoner Project

High-fives to all the innovators who are turning licensed Cannabis into the fastest growing biz in the U.S. But we should never forget those left behind in prison or rebuilding lives broken because of the injustices inflicted by antiquated, racially-charged convictions. Through intervention, advocacy and awareness, the Last Prisoner Project fights to right those wrongs and we’re honored to have LPP Advisor Stephanie Shepard talk about this amazing organization’s achievements—and learn how we can all help.

California Growers

The power of the plant is in many ways in the hands of farmers. It’s through their knowledge and application of hard-won skills that they maximize the potential of various strains. Hear directly from NorCal farmers and Mendocino Generations co-founders Chiah Rodriques and Jamie Beatty about how sun, soil and the unique qualities of the Emerald Triangle combine to create some of the best cannabis on Earth.

Monogem

Mexican-American artist Monogem (Jen Hirsh) fuses jazz and soul influences with the electro-pop sounds she is known for. Her 2019 breakthrough Spanish-language single, “Soy Lo Que Soy,” was a milestone for the LA-based artist as it marked the first time she incorporated her LatinX heritage into her music, fulfilling a promise she made to her abuela. Earning praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, KCRW and others, Monogem is set to release her debut album in Spring 2021.

What We’re About…

We’re here to shake things up—in a good way! And as much as we want to have fun, we stand for a few things too. So we want you to know what we’re all about, including important issues like Social Equity, Earth-friendly growing practices (Regenerative Farming) and supporting small and mid-sized businesses so everyone has a chance to thrive in this exciting space.

Culture

The Cannabis culture we know today was first shaped by communities of color in the early 20th century, especially Mexican-Americans in the Southwest and urban African-Americans. Fast forward to today and it’s been a wild ride through everything from the politically-motivated “war on drugs” to rock-n-roll renegades and now social justice warriors and innovative entrepreneurs. We’ll keep you current through music, essays, podcasts and imagery, all designed so you can explore the latest and greatest as cannabis transforms from outlaw to essential business and social staple.

Community

Especially now in the wake of locked-down life, community couldn’t be more important. We’re social beings by nature and only truly thrive when we can connect through our common interests, values and concerns. At GreenLit, we strive to play a role as part of the connective tissue that unites this amazing global community of doers, dreamers and thinkers who know how to create, heal and celebrate with Mother Nature’s medicine. As we grow and evolve, we promise a platform that is accessible and welcoming to all. There’s no velvet rope here—only a green welcome mat!

Celebration

We can never have too much celebration, right?! Especially considering the 2020 clown-car ride. But hey, we’re almost there and to nudge us all to the finish line, we created GreenLit: The Gathering, a welcoming, wondrous event infused with music, laughs and conversation with influencers doing amazing things in the big, wide world of weed. It’s all about curating uplifting experiences that include diverse voices, good vibes and cool discoveries. And this is just the beginning! There’s much more planned ahead—both virtually and all together when the time is right. So stay tuned!
